Many ESTIEMers of our local group wanted to attend this autumnal council meeting. But we were the lucky ones. So we packed our stuff to be ready for this beautiful country known for its banks, chocolate, cheese, rösti and of course the lovely Heidi.
But before we had to leave the nice city of Graz, we bought some special presents for the organisers and for the leaving board. But which presents represent Austria the best? We searched a while and finally found something that in our eyes fits really well. But that is another story we can tell you if we meet.
So we were on our way, hitting Switzerland. The organisers mentioned that we would stay in bunkers, but we thought that it would be comfortable. So as we saw our accommodation, we were a little bit surprised. It was going to be really cosy. The sleeping berths were subdivided in three floors, in one room. But we were all ESTIEMERs that know how to be flexible. So we were this bunch of young and pretty students of industrial engineering and management sharing 8 sinks for 120 people.
The General assembly lasted for four days. The sessions were quite intense and the working groups helped to improve our skills and to shape the future of an awesome organisation like ESTIEM. The assemblies were always held at the premises of the ETH Zürich. So we could have a little taste on how it is to study in a famous and multicultural university like the ETH is. We had the pleasure to be welcomed by the principal of the ETH and also had the opportunity to listen to a really interesting lecture about sustainability. As Schmankerl, Procter & Gamble gave us an insight in their working structure and human resources policies.
We had lunch and dinner at the Mensa of the University and it was surprisingly delicious. We didn't know that a canteen of a university could make such appetisingly meals. This could be a great opportunity for knowledge transfer. All in all Zürich was really awesome and we hope the next Council Meeting to be brilliant.
We hope this article transmitted at least a tiny part of the fun that ESTIEM transmitted to us during this trip.
