XLII Council Meeting Karlsruhe (12.07-17.07.2011)

The Spring CM, which was organized this year by the Local Group Karlsruhe, brought together more than 200 ESTIEM’ers from all the 64 Local Groups in Europe. It was a full week of General Assemblies, Working Groups, Teambuilding and Networking. But, most important, it was the best example for the ESTIEM Motto: “Work hard, play harder!”.

During the General Assemblies the Board and the Committees presented their reports about their work and results, as well as their plans for the future. Also the new Project Leaders were elected for the ESTIEM Magazine, Student Guide, TIMES, Vision and Summer Academy.

The Working Groups covered all the important Committees and Projects, with discussions about the current state and improvement ideas, all backed up by clever Teambuilding games.

The companies which sponsored the event presented their connection to Industrial Engineering and Management and provided really interesting Workshops but also the possibility to find out more about their jobs or internship offers.

Networking was the key word of this event, and it’s unbelievable how many amazing, interesting people you can meet in just one week. All of them studying IEM, all of them truly involved in the constant improvement of ESTIEM.

The “work hard” part during the day was always sustained by the “play harder” one during night: A couple of student parties, a visit to the thermae Europabad, a great Gala Dinner, but most important, the highlight of the week: the “Straba Party” – some hours of party in a tram going through the city.

It was for sure one worthwhile experience of the ESTIEM Spirit, and I’m sure the next CM in Ankara will be one as well.
